Origin of the Sikh religion was against the prevalent ills of the Indian society at that time, one of the main rituals present was the caste system. Sikh religion ideology totally negates the caste system. Caste system is differentiation of the people in the society based on the status, stock, rank and occupation. It is common all over the world which ultimately results only in discrimination or exclusiveness.
In India this caste system has took the plunge at the time of Aryans where four fold society concept advent in. Society was divided into four categories Brahman, Ksatriyas, Vaisyas and Sudras. Then after that people just knotted themselves with these rituals. In Punjab caste signifies only the ethnic group Gotras based on the family, line or sept. But it becomes curse when it develops into the permanent division of the society based on the birth.
Latest shameful incident has been seen in the Vienna, Austria. Six assailants killed one of the leaders of group belonging of Dera Sach Khand in Vienna and many other were injured in the incident. Then after that riots were ignited in Punjab. Mobs torched trains, buses and public areas. Dera Sach Khand is one of the organizations in Punjab taken care by followers of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. News reports are coming that it was dispute between dalit and high class Sikhs groups.
Where these words dalit and high class came from? This was never the motive of the Sikh religion. It is far behind the humanitarian and egalitarian principles which were the fundamental of the Sikh religion. People are forgetting the bani of Gurus.
Neecha Andar Neech Jaat
Neechi Hu At Neech
Nanak Tin Kai Sang Saath
Vadian Sio Kia Rees
(Sri Guru Granth Sahib)
Nanak is the companion of the lowest of the low and of the condemned lot. He has nothing in common with the high born.
People in Punjab and the whole world are again heading towards the Dark Age, which our Gurus tried to fade out years back. Its time to wake up otherwise caste-conscious will continue to divide us.
Blog truly shows the way we Sikhs are going by forgetting the teachings and preachings of our Gurus. The Sikh religion has the foundation of Equality. The Langer system is also one of the ways of life to practice Equality.
